CSA FAQ'S

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Members purchase a share of the farm’s harvest in advance and receive a weekly box of fresh, seasonal produce during the growing season.

How does your CSA work?

Members receive a weekly share of produce grown on our farm. Shares are distributed at a set pickup location and time each week. The contents change with the seasons and reflect what’s being harvested at its peak.

What’s included in a share?

Each share includes a variety of fresh, seasonal vegetables—and occasionally herbs or farm extras. We aim for a balanced mix of staples and fun seasonal items. Contents vary week to week based on weather and harvest.

How much food do I get each week?

A typical share feeds about 2–8 people, depending on your selection of our Harvest Box or Mini-Harvest Box.

When does the CSA season run?

Our CSA runs from April 1st - July 31st (and again in the Fall/Winter. Dates TBD) for a total of 18 weeks.

Where and when is pickup?

Pickup is at [location(s)] on [day(s)] between [time range]. Exact details will be shared before the season begins and in weekly emails.

What if I can’t make my pickup one week?

If you can’t make it, you may:

  • Email 5 days in advance for a "Credit" to use later.
  • Send a friend or family member to pick up for you
  • Donate your share

Unclaimed shares cannot be refunded.

Is the produce organic?

We use sustainable/regenerative growing practices and prioritize healthy soil, biodiversity, and responsible land stewardship. While we may not be certified organic, we are always happy to explain how and why we grow the way we do.

How fresh is the produce?

Very fresh. Most items are harvested within 24 hours of pickup.

Is this good for kids/families?

Yes! Many families love CSA because it introduces kids to seasonal eating and new foods. We try to include familiar staples alongside new items.

Can I customize my share?

CSA shares are pre-packed to reflect the harvest, so customization is limited. Occasionally we may offer swap items. Please email maxwellcreekmarketgarden@gmail.com to place any requests.

What happens if there’s bad weather or crop loss?

Farming involves some risk. As a CSA member, you share in both the abundance and the challenges of the season. We work hard to diversify crops and minimize disruptions.

How do I sign up and pay?

Sign-ups are available at maxwellcreekmarketgarden.com/shop. You may also email maxwellcreekmarketgarden@gmail.com for a payment plant.

Why should I join a CSA instead of buying at the store?

By joining our CSA, you:

  • Support a local farm directly
  • Eat ultra-fresh, seasonal produce
  • Help build a resilient local food system
  • Become part of a farming community
